Storms in the Tropics of Titan
Lowell astronomer Henry Roe and his colleagues have discovered an unusual weather event in the
atmosphere of Saturn's largest moon. A month-long burst of violent methane storms helps explain
the evidence of erosion and channels in a part of Titan
previously thought to have no
significant weather. These observations are an example of Lowell Observatory's leading role in
long-term observational programs, as well as in outer solar system astronomy. Dr. Roe and
colleagues are continuing their efforts
to detect and understand seasonal climate patterns in this distant world.
