1.1 Units
Throughout the program all lengths are expressed in meters (m). Whilst this
makes the specification of some quantities, e.g. wavelength, a little
cumbersome, it has the benefit of removing any possibility for confusion.
Whenever a quantity is requested, the required units are given
in brackets ().
