For purely technical reasons we only supply the Sunos version of the program as a statically linked binary. The a.out libraries are supplied to enable re-linking of the program if necessary.

Running the program with the command "ef" is different from the previous versions of the program which were invoked by "efrun".

For those upgrading from a ef version 1.0, note that adjusting the gamma in 8 bit mode by changing the underlying colour map is no longer supported. The new method always references the original image data, so allows much larger dynamic range as well as supporting displays of any depth.
