1.4 About this manual

Throughout this manual we use certain conventions to describe interaction with the program.

File names
When we refer to files we do so in the following font:
ThisIsAFile
to distinguish the file name from the surrounding text.
Labels
Labels within the user interface are always represented in a special font like
this is a label
which enables you to distinguish a multi-word label from the surrounding explanatory text.
Menu traversal
Most program functionality can be invoked through the menu structure. To simplify the description of menu item locations we represent menu items as;
File :: Save Image.
This should be interpreted as; invoke the Save Image entry in the file menu. In addition the above sequence is sometimes used to refer to the sub-window invoked by the menu choice.
