Looking at the Peterson & FitzGerald paper as an aside, here are coordinates for the stars in Lynga 1. These appear in SIMBAD with photometry but completely without coordinates. The Lynga/SIMBAD/WEBDA position for the cluster center is in error. In SIMBAD it has been erroneously assigned to an IRAS source. The cluster center shown below was determined simply from the midpoint of the measured stars, which looks to contain the main body of the cluster. There are three IRAS sources in the vicinity. As best I can tell, these do not apply to any cluster star, but evidently to sources in the obscured background. In particular, IRAS 13569-6156 is _not_ the cluster itself, as given presently in SIMBAD, but is some sort of nebula in the distant line-of- sight. Also, IRAS 13563-6154 is not the bright (unobserved) star CPD-61 4241 = CD-61 4150, located some 15" away. The MSX position for this object confirms it be south of the star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coordinates and identifications for stars in Lynga 1 version: 21 Jan 2002 sources: 1988MNRAS.235.1439P PETERSON C.J. and FITZGERALD M.P.
