The list below shows precise positions for 158 red variables reported by Margaret Harwood in the Scutum starcloud. These comprise somewhat less than half the variables listed, and includes only those for which a spectral type was given. These were determined by Victor Blanco on far-red objective- prism plates taken at Warner & Swasey Observatory. Although I began to find coordinates by simply searching a modest radius from the nominal star positions in VizieR, it soon became clear that on occasion the Blanco classification was not for the variable reported by Harwood. I thus identified each star anew by comparing the DSS1 V-band scan and 2MASS J-band images with Harwood's charts to determine which star was classified. Those entries not corresponding to the catalogued variables are given a new name and the neighboring variable is flagged in the remarks. All the coords come from UCAC2 or 2MASS. I ran the completed list into VizieR again to get MSX6C and IRAS point- and serendipitous-source names (one case of the latter), using a 60" search radius for this. Finally, I searched each position in SIMBAD using a 3' search radius for additional IDs. In general the GCVS names are present in SIMBAD, but often not linked with the IRAS name. Few of the NSV stars are present. Where I remark "IRAS coords poor", this means the star lies outside the IRAS position error-ellipse, but the corresponding MSX A-band flux is a close match to the IRAS 12mu flux. In every case the star lies along the major axis of the IRAS error-ellipse. The spectral types shown by SIMBAD are usually those from this paper, which do not seem to have been published elsewhere.
