The files below are samples from two early spectral surveys covering regions in the Hyades. The first is from Ramberg's 1941 study of the central region (Stockholm Obs. Ann., 13, part no. 9, 1-168 = 1941StoAn..13i...1R). As a supplement, I have also keyed-in stars from the Bergedorfer Spektral Durchmusterung for Selected Area 72 (Schwassmann and van Rhijn 1951, Hamburger Sternwarte Bergedorf = 1951BSD...C04....0S), which covers a 12 square degree area on the southwest side of the cluster. About 450 stars are in the Ramberg study, reaching to photo-blue magnitude ~13.5, i.e. in the early-M dwarfs among cluster members. The BSD field includes 250 stars with 'intensity' of 3 or greater (roughly brighter than photo-blue mag. 12.5). The two fields are just contiguous; there is exactly one star in common between the two lists. The Ramberg data are from the same monograph that included work on the Praesepe cluster, which I have already completed. The stars included fall within a circle of 98' radius centered on theta-2 Tauri (4h28m39s +15d52'.3 for equinox 2000). The Hyades spectral data are notable for including the first two white dwarfs found in the cluster based on spectra (Ramberg A28 and A169 in the present list). The spectral plates were taken with 40cm Stockholm astrograph and objective prism yielding about 210A/mm at H-delta. Ramberg provided equinox 1900 coordinates to 0'.1 precision based on AGK1 reference stars; this allowed unambiguous match-ups against the GSC. The photo-blue magnitudes are close to Johnson B with fairly small scatter. The table shows equinox 2000 GSC v1.1 positions and IDs, BD names, and Ramberg's photo-blue magnitudes and types. The remarks are mainly HD/E names. I include a number of stars with less certain spectral types from a supplemental list of given by Ramberg; these are indicated by the prefix 'A'. Where the spectral types are discrepant with other sources, I have compared various Hyades membership lists (via SIMBAD), as well as ordinary UBV/uvby and Tycho B-V photometry in hopes of deciding which is correct. Because of the strong reddening of stars not far behind the cluster, it was not always possible to come to a definite conclusion. The self-evident cases are given in the notes, which are indicated by an asterisk next to the Ramberg number. As part of the work in constructing the lists, nearly all the stars were checked in SIMBAD. This revealed a large number of multiple entries for the same star, but no gross errors as with the Praesepe field.
