The list below shows mostly precise coordinates for all the variable stars in the field of Messier 28 observed by Wehlau & Sawyer Hogg in their 1984 survey of the cluster. I used their very clear photographic charts to identify the stars. Surprisingly only three of the stars had to have positions estimated (and they should be very close), the rest appearing in various reliable astrometric catalogues. The stars appear in SIMBAD mostly without coordinates, though a few have approximate positions. For five field variables I show GCVS names, and some other useful IDs appear in some cases. The cluster center position looks okay in SIMBAD, but do note the IDs with the classical catalogues, which are in a separate SIMBAD entry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coordinates for variable stars in NG 6626 = Messier 28 version: 31 Jul 2004 NGC 6626 = HD 169199 = CD-24 14289 = CPD -24 6385 source: 1984AJ.....89.1005W WEHLAU A. and SAWYER HOGG H.
