Appended below is a list of identifications and spectral types for late- type stars found in an objective-prism survey by Nandy & Smriglio. The stars were identified only on charts. I used screen plots of the USNO-A2.0 catalogue to identify them, along with other tools (DSS, SIMBAD) for some cases. As is common in similar low-dispersion surveys, it was clearly difficult to distinguish the earlier-type M stars from hotter stars. Thus many of the stars shown here as type M0 or M1 are probably actually ordinary K giants (or even earlier). I made use of the USNO-A magnitudes as a rough guide to star color in combination with the (similarly rough) far-red (~8500A, roughly I band) magnitudes given by Nandy & Smriglio, and have flagged egregious cases where the colors suggest the stars are much bluer than the spectral type would indicate. The stars with mb - mi < 3.0 are almost certainly not M stars. The table shows positions and GSC IDs as available, USNO-A2.0 'mb' and blue minus red colors, plus the far-red 'mi' magnitudes and spectral types given by Nandy & Smriglio. Few of the stars are IRAS sources or known variables. Since most of the stars are early-M type, they are likely to be variable only at the ~0.1 mag. level, but a few large-amplitude variables should be present among the later-type M stars. There are a few cases of very red stars shown with early-M spectral types. Apart from outright errors, a few of these may be supergiants rather than giants, and thus are very red due to interstellar reddening as a result of sheer distance.
