Ser., 32, 25-56 (1978) A spectrophotometric survey of stars along the Milky Way. IV. This file shows coordinates, V magnitudes, and spectral types from the spectrophotometric survey by Rydstrom (1978A&AS...32...25R). At present SIMBAD shows 1727 entries that have BD names. Rydstrom included about 125 additional stars lacking BD names, and I have recovered them here (1853 stars total). Many of the non-BD stars are present in the HD or HDE. Several of the identifications in both SIMBAD and the published table have some errors, which are specified in the notes. Since we have magnitudes, colors, and spectral types to work from, it was straightforward to sort this out, especially to know which stars were intended by Rydstrom. In general I adopted the SIMBAD coordinates directly; these mostly come from either the Tycho Reference Catalogue (I/250) or Hipparcos. I have changed them in many cases for doubles etc when Tycho-2 seems to be more nearly correct. The positions are rounded to 0s.01/0".1 precision, which is entirely adequate for these bright stars. Doubles are shown with the mid-point at 1" precision. Rydstrom gave photo-blue magnitudes based on the spectral scans, and these seem to be about right as standard B magnitudes. Even so, I have replaced them all by standard V magnitudes from the Mermilliod UBV/uvby catalogues, adjusted Tycho-2, or TASS MkIV, all rounded to 0.1 mag precision. The spectral types for stars of type A2 and later are consistent with MK types, and I have made no changes. The earlier types are given in the Uppsala Greek-lettered system. These are based largely on widths of the Balmer lines (no consideration of the helium lines), and are more akin to Morgan's "natural groups" than to MK types. The correspondence of Uppsala types with MK types is discussed by Ljunggren & Oja in 1961UppAn...4j...1L, particularly their Figure 2. The 'tau' stars span the entire B class from dwarfs to giants, and I give them simply as type B here. The 'sigma' stars cover the range near A0 (roughly B8 to A2) from dwarfs to giants. This range is large enough that I have refrained from assigning a specific class, and leave them as B/A. From other surveys by the Uppsala group, it is clear that the two later classes, called 'rho' and 'mu', are much more specifically dwarfs close to A0 and to A0-A2. I have made these A0V and A0/2V in the table. The Rydstrom data provide many spectral types for fainter BD and AG stars that lack types from the HD/HDE or from the surveys by Vyssotsky in this zone.
