A polar projection of the northern jovian aurora is plotted, with crosses marking the locations that will be probed by six observatories during the October 10 1999 occultation by Jupiter's aurora. Many of these are in the auroral region, as can be seen by the location of the auroral reference oval, drawn in a dashed line (Clarke et al. 1996, Science 274, and Ballester 1996, Science 274). The image is a projection of Jupiter's aurora (courtesy of John Clarke and Mark Vincent) performed for the 1-bar level, and so the image of the polar aurora is not projected here. --Leslie Young (BU)
