Problem:This streak showed up in every image at the same location on the chip regardless of the field, location in sky, or filter. The light possibly directly entered through the dewar window of the CCD (i.e., it did not travel the light path of the telescope optics). This would explain why the telescope could be moved around a few degrees and the light feature would not change its position on the image. The source of this reflected light was never discovered. |
Fix:The only way to get rid of this feature would be to find the leak and take appropriate countermeasures. |
